Welcome to Keylane. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Keylane secure messaging application, services, and servers (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Livotov Labs Ltd. ("we," "us," or "our").
By creating an account or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Our Service Philosophy
Keylane is an end-to-end encrypted messaging service architected for maximum privacy and minimal data collection. Our servers function as a simple, secure router for encrypted data packets and a directory for public keys. All message history and account keys are stored exclusively on your device(s).

2. Beta Service Acknowledgment
You acknowledge that the Service is currently in a Closed Beta phase. It is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis for testing and feedback purposes. The Service may contain bugs, errors, or inaccuracies, and may undergo significant changes, or experience periods of unavailability without prior notice.

3. Account Security and Your Responsibility

  • Account Creation: Your account is defined by a cryptographic key pair generated securely on your device. We do not require an email, phone number, or any other personal information.
  • YOUR DEVICE IS YOUR KEY: Your account's security is entirely dependent on the security of the physical device(s) holding your private key. There are no passwords to recover.
  • IRREVERSIBLE LOSS: If you lose your device, or it is compromised, and you have not previously authorized a backup device, you will permanently lose access to your Keylane account and all associated data. We possess no information that could help you regain access. This is a fundamental aspect of our security model.
  • Acceptable Use: You agree not to use the Service for any purpose that is illegal, unlawful, or prohibited by these Terms. This includes transmitting spam, malicious content, or engaging in harassment.

4. Our Business Model and Fees
Keylane is an independent project. To ensure our sustainability without compromising our principles:

  • Core Features on our public service are free of charge.
  • Pro Features will be offered in the future via optional subscriptions or one-time payments.
  • Dedicated & Self-Hosted Solutions for businesses and organizations are available under separate commercial agreements.

5. Intellectual Property
All rights, title, and interest in and to the Service (including software, branding, and design) are and will remain the exclusive property of Livotov Labs Ltd. and its licensors.

6. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account from within the application at any time. This action is irreversible and will remove your public key and Keylane ID from our servers.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, for any reason, including for a breach of these Terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, be secure, uninterrupted, or error-free.

8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Livotov Labs Ltd., its directors, employees, and partners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of or inability to use the Service.

9. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
