1. Acceptance of Terms & Age Requirement
By downloading the Keylane application or utilizing the keylane.app public server, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use our service.
Age Restriction: You must be at least 16 years of age to use Keylane, in accordance with EU GDPR consent requirements. By using the app, you confirm you meet this age requirement.
2. Nature of the Service
Keylane is strictly an Interpersonal Communications Service. We provide a secure, end-to-end encrypted protocol for private conversations between individuals.
- No Public Broadcasting: Keylane does not support, host, or provide public groups, public channels, or public user directories. We are not an online platform, social network, or public forum. You can only communicate with users whose cryptographic IDs you already possess.
3. Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
While Livotov Labs Ltd. utilizes a Zero-Knowledge architecture and cannot read your encrypted messages, you agree not to use the keylane.app public infrastructure to:
- Plan, coordinate, or execute acts of terrorism or violence.
- Distribute, solicit, or share Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
- Conduct organized crime, human trafficking, or illicit drug sales.
- Harass, abuse, or send unsolicited spam to other users.
Enforcement: We do not proactively scan or monitor content, as our end-to-end encryption makes content inspection cryptographically infeasible. However, if Livotov Labs Ltd. receives a valid, targeted legal order from competent authorities demonstrating that a specific Keylane ID is utilizing our public infrastructure for illegal activities, we reserve the right to terminate that ID’s access to our servers immediately.
User Reports: The app gives you two ways to report abuse. Reporting a contact, from their contact screen, sends our moderation team the last 10 messages of that conversation. Reporting a single message, from the long-press menu on that message, sends that message only. In both cases your device decrypts the content and sends it together with the reported Keylane ID and your own, and in both cases nothing is sent until you explicitly confirm the report. This is the only situation in which the content of your messages is disclosed to Livotov Labs Ltd. Our moderation team may read what you forwarded solely in order to assess the report, keeps it only for as long as that assessment and any resulting enforcement require, and uses it for nothing else. Reports are not anonymous towards us. Submitting knowingly false, retaliatory or abusive reports is itself a breach of this Acceptable Use Policy. Reporting does not block the contact: use Block if you also want to stop them from reaching you.
4. Open Source & Trademark Licensing
Keylane’s cryptographic core (Kodium) is open-source today; the full client application source will be released under the same license at public launch. You are granted the right to inspect, audit, use, copy, modify, and distribute the source code in accordance with the Apache License, Version 2.0.
However, as set out in Section 6 of the Apache License 2.0, that license grants no rights under trademark law, and Livotov Labs Ltd. grants none separately. The name “Keylane,” the Keylane logo, and all associated brand assets are protected trademarks of Livotov Labs Ltd. If you distribute modified versions of the software, you must remove all Keylane trademarks, logos, and branding to prevent misrepresentation of origin.
5. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Keylane is provided on an “AS-IS” and “AS-AVAILABLE” basis. While we utilize industry-standard cryptographic protocols, Livotov Labs Ltd. makes no absolute warranties regarding uninterrupted service, bug-free software, or protection against theoretical quantum-computing threats. To the maximum extent permitted by EU and Bulgarian law, Livotov Labs Ltd. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the Keylane software or network.
6. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Bulgaria and applicable European Union regulations. Any legal disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the competent courts of Varna, Bulgaria.
